My Straight Teeth Journey – an Invisalign blog A year with Invisalign braces…

Pictures of my teeth

Here are pictures of my teeth, at the beginning of the treatment (i.e. nothing has happened yet).  (Edit: I've added the 'week 36 picture' so you can see progress so far...) The bottom picture was taken with my Invisalign trays so you can see how 'invisible' they are.  You can just about make out the composite blobs that the dentist applied to my teeth (I have 9 in total) which help to guide my teeth into the right positions.  The most recent picture (top) is at the end of the treatment for my lower teeth (tray 18) and you can see they've moved a long way.  Just another 14 or so to go on my upper teeth!!!

Lower teeth finished now after 18 trays!

Week 14 of Invisalign - lower teeth are coming into alignment...

Teeth, no Invisalign trays...

Teeth wearing Invisalign trays

Now you might be thinking that Invisalign was supposed to be invisible, and clearly from these pictures they are not!  However, these are fairly close up pictures and after a week of wearing them I don't think people have noticed.  Or they are just being polite.  Also I'm holding my mouth open a bit so you can get a good look, normally unless you've got a big cheesy grin on, you won't have your mouth this open so it is even harder to spot them.

Looking forward to seeing what my teeth look like in a years time !

  1. Hi Ed,

I am seriously considering going for invisalign, as I have a slight overbite, and some crowding and crookedness that my dentist said invisalign would be ok for. However, I am reluctant because I really am not sure I can take wearing the aligners for that length of time. Can you speak ok? Are they really uncomfortable, or only mildly so? Do you think it is worth the outlay?

Any honest feedback would be greatly appreciated.

  2. Hi Nicola,
Thanks for your comment. It’s a good question and I think I’ll answer it fully in a blog post – will go do that now…
